Prof. Jarosław Dastych, Ph. D.
Founder & CEO, Board Member

Professor Jarosław Dastych is the Founder, CEO and President of the Board of Proteon Pharmaceuticals S.A., an innovative biotechnology company developing alternatives to antibiotics in animal, plant and human health. Prof. Dastych received his PhD in Medical Biology from the Medical University of Łódź in 1991 and started his scientific career at the Polish Academy of Sciences in Lodz, Poland. For several years he worked at the US National Institute of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, USA. In 2000 Prof. Dastych established the first research laboratory at the newly created International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology in Warsaw. In 2005 Prof. Dastych established Proteon Pharmaceuticals. The company has developed a unique bacteriophage platform technology for development of effective alternatives to solving and preventing bacterial disease in animal farming and aquaculture as well as egg production and poultry farming. Its research platform and products have won international recognition and numerous innovation awards.

Prof. Dastych research interests range from immunology, toxicology and molecular biology to the development of novel diagnostic tools and bacteriophage-based or related treatment of disease. He has coordinated twelve European R&D projects. He is the author of over 40 publications in international scientific journals and has co-authored 4 biotechnology-related patents.

Matthew Tebeau
COO, Board Member

Matthew Tebeau is the Chief Operating Officer of Proteon Pharmaceuticals where he is responsible for the company’s strategy, partnership collaborations and mission/vision. Matthew has over 25 years of leadership experience with a specialization in organizational development. He has investment, governance and advisory experience in technology, life sciences, as well as business and consumer services.

Matthew is a graduate of Dartmouth College and has completed executive programs in leadership and innovation at Harvard Business School and IMD.

Nipun Gupta
Chief Commercial Officer

Nipun is the Chief Commercial Officer of Proteon Pharmaceuticals where he is responsible for the company’s global sales, sales support, contract management, client services, distribution and marketing. He is an accomplished Senior Manager with +20 years’ experience of successfully developing new business and markets, with a passion for strategic commercial management and sales. Instrumental in defining the organization’s strategy; exemplary record in efficient delivery, with primary focus on achieving sales revenue targets and growth. Nipun possesses a determination to capitalize on international business exposure, broad cross-industry experience with leading multinational corporations and a developed, effective network of executive relations across Europe, Russia and the CIS region. 

He is adept at identifying commercial opportunities, carrying out feasibility analysis, strategy development, go-to-market and business model development.

Bruno Maineult
Chief Financial Officer

Bruno Maineult is the Chief Financial Officer of Proteon Pharmaceuticals. He has over 20 years of experience in financial management in Poland and Europe including his roles as Head of Financial Planning & Analysis of the Polish telecom incumbent and CFO of a German tech corporation controlled by Private Equity.

Coming from a financial background, Bruno also had several operational management positions. He has a comprehensive knowledge of investment activities and corporate governance. Savvy about information management and effective and synergetic cooperation between teams.

Bruno likes working in multi-cultural environments and technological sectors. Beyond his work experience in companies of all sizes, he has built his entrepreneurial skills through participating in several innovative projects in education, multimedia and financial services as a Freelancer and as an Angel Investor in Poland.

Justyna Andrysiak
Chief Product Development Officer

Justyna is the Chief Product Development Officer of Proteon Pharmaceuticals where she is responsible for the acquisition of more than EUR 7.7mln in non-dilutive R&D and commercial grants. Justyna is an experienced project manager supporting multiple projects with high complexity and managing external grant acquisition, execution and compliance. Her dedication to building a culture based on bottoms-up initiatives and collaboration across organizational boundaries results in a true one team approach to innovation. She also provides day-to-day leadership and supervision of Administration, Human Resources, Real Estate, Procurement and Corporate Affairs.

Justyna holds a master’s degree in Biotechnology (specialization in Technical Biochemistry) and is a certified project manager.

Arkadiusz Wojtasik, PhD
Production Director

As the Production Director at Proteon Pharmaceuticals, Arkadiusz supervises the biotechnology team of Phage Products and Autovaccines Departments, where he has successfully built up a pilot-scale phage product manufacturing line from the foundation and he is currently developing full-scale production using breakthrough proprietary technology. Arkadiusz is qualified in optimization of phage-related bioprocess and scale-up operations and is a proficient, dedicated and quality-oriented manager who supports a dynamic, innovative and positive work environment. Co-developer of 4 novel products and the related exclusive know-how.

Ewelina Wójcik, PhD
Chief Research Officer

Ewelina is the Chief Research Officer at Proteon Pharmaceuticals where she manages a +40-person R&D Function. A scientist in the fields of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics, wrote her Ph.D. thesis on “Unusual DNA structures as endogenous mutagens in mycobacteria”. She is responsible for the scientific development of bacteriophage products (BAFASAL, BAFADOR, anti-Avian Pathogenic E. coli product, anti-Mastitis product, anti-Campylobacter product).

Ewelina has recently volunteered to work in the Coronovirus Diagnostic Center in Łódź, Poland which was established to increase efficacy in testing SARS Cov-2.

Małgorzata Stańczyk, PhD
Director of Regulatory Affairs

Małgorzata is the Director of Regulatory Affairs at Proteon Pharmaceuticals where she is responsible for all intellectual property issues in relation to patents and trademarks and the preparation of the registration dossiers for product registration and submission process. A scientist in the fields of toxicology, molecular genetics and biochemistry. She is a co-author of over 28 publications in scientific journals and involved in several research projects.
