Cases of salmonellosis are a growing problem – their number has been steadily growing for the last two years exceeding the number of 10 thousand cases per year. One of the main sources of infection are eggs and poultry. Few months ago new set of rules was implemented regarding national program for the control of salmonellosis, which puts bigger emphasis on prevention, bio-assurance and effective elimination of bacteria at their source transferring more responsibility to the breeders.
